Matlab
- Matlab Beryl Conflict -- File menus and toolbars disappear when using Matlab while running Beryl (although they retain their functionality); Other display problems like things popping up behind active windows where they can't be seen, etc.

Software
[edit]
Bib management
- Referencer -- A bibTex / document manager for Gnome environments. Python based plugins offer further adaptability.
- Pybliographer -- Another Gnome bibliography manager.
[edit]
General Software
- Firefox -- The standard for web browsing, on any platform.
- Skype -- A solid VoIP client, fully supported on Linux.
- GIMP -- Image editing/authoring software, akin to Adobe Photoshop.
- Open Office -- A complete Office suite. Not quite up to the standards of Microsoft office, but surprisingly powerful nonetheless. OpenOffice can handle files created in Microsoft Office.
